FIDE Women's World Chess Championship 2025 (6)

Ju Wenjun takes control of her match against Tan Zhongyi with two wins in a row

After a tentative start Ju Wenjun, the Women's World Champion, has taken a 4-2 lead at the half way stage of her match against challenger Tan Zhongyi. The match now breaks for three days as it moves from Shanghai to Chongqing. Game 6 saw Ju equalise quite quickly and even get quite a nice advantage, but 22...Bf6 was a misstep that allowed Tan equality. The position remained complicated and 31.h4? was a serious mistake that cost Tan the game, she couldn't even keep queens on and Ju's technique allowed no way back.
