Welsh Championships 2010 (7)

Richard S Jones wins the Welsh Championship 2010

Richard S Jones won the Welsh Championship 2010 which took place in Cardiff over Easter.

Richard Jones dominated the Welsh Championships held in Cardiff over the Easter weekend and retained his title with ease. Jones scored 6.5/7 conceding just a draw to Thomas Brown who might have won but this would not have changed the outcome of the tournament. In the following game Jones wins with an attractive sacrifice.

There are some nice lines. If 21...Rg8 22.Qh5!! Bxd3 23.Nxh7! Bxg6 24.Nf6+! Bxh5 25.Rxg8 mate. Or 21...Rg8 22.Qh5!! Bxd3 23.Nxh7! Kg7 24.Nf6 Rh8 25.Qh7+! Rxh7 26.gxh7+ Bg6 27.Rxg6+ Kxg6 28.h8Q; 21...Rg8 22.Qh5!! Bxd3 23.Nxh7! Qxh7 24.Qxh7 mate

Jones is well acquainted with the latest ideas here and the black king perishes in the centre.
