FIDE Presidential Elections 2010 (CAS Case)
FIDE win CAS case
Mark Crowther - Tuesday 28th September 2010
There will be an election for the FIDE Presidency as the case in the Court for Arbitration in Sport was won by FIDE. I always thought this likely. Reports their point of view. and http://www.karpov2010.org/2010/09/court-case-to-force-fair-play-fails/ is the Karpov reaction. The full judgement in PDF
Now we'll see whether FIDE's claims of support are true, the Karpov team believe it will be very close. One would hope not as any look at Ilyumzhinov's record in FIDE and especially in Kalmykia can only lead to one conclusion, completely unfit for any post.
