The WR Masters took place in Dusseldorf Wed 15th to Sun 26th Feb 2023. This was a new elite event and the field has many players in common with the recent Tata Steel tournament in Wijk aan Zee. Players: Ian Nepomniachtchi, Anish Giri, Wesley So, Levon Aronian, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Gukesh Dommaraju, Vincent Keymer, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu and Andrey Esipenko. Levon Aronian won all three games in a tie-break against Nepomniachtchi and Gukesh, the final two rounds weren't needed as he couldn't be caught.
