Staunton Memorial Dinner 2010 (1)
Staunton Memorial Dinner 2010
Mark Crowther - Thursday 9th September 2010
The Staunton Memorial Dinner 2010 was a fund raiser for the Karpov FIDE Presidential Campaign. There was a so called Grandmaster Consultation game (probably there should have been another name), 1 hour per side, Nigel Short and Rajko Vujatovic played alternate moves against Garry Kasparov and Jon Crumiller. Crumiller reports that: "Rajko played e4 and I played c5, then Nigel played Nf3, Garry played e6, etc. The match conditions were that there was no consultation whatsoever. It was a wild game, the star move of the game (in my opinion) was Kasparov’s …Kh8!!" Both sides had about 6 minutes left at the end.
