The Speed Chess Championship Invitational took place on Sunday 25th October to decide the final place in chess.com's Speed Chess Championship. The format for most of the event was two 5m+1spm games, four 3m+1spm games, and eight 1m+1spm games however in the final, there were three 5m+1spm games, five 3m+1spm games, and 10 1m+1spm games. A very strong 16 player field included Alexander Grischuk, Peter Svidler, Santosh Gujrathi Vidit and Daniil Dubov but it was Jan-Krzysztof Duda who emerged the winner beating Sergey Karjakin 10-4 in the final. The final was closely contested until the bullet stage where Duda ran away with it winning every game.
