April 10th-11th 2010 saw the last two rounds of the Schachbundesliga season 2009/10.
Two rounds before the end of the season Baden-Baden, Solingen and Bremen were fighting for the title in the Schachbundesliga.
The decisive fixtures took place in Round 14 on 10th April 2010. In Bremen Werder Bremen beat SG Solingen to keep their title hopes alive and ruin Solingen's. In Baden-Baden OSG Baden-Baden beat SV Muelheim Nord to take a one point lead into the final round. Board points don't count so if Baden-Baden dropped points a playoff for the title was possible. However with Baden-Baden played 10th placed SF Katernberg and so they were strong favourites to retain their title. They duly did this by thumping Katernberg 7-1.
Preview of Rounds 10 and 11 of the Bundesliga 2009-10 (10-11)
In the 10th round the German champion OSG Baden-Baden faces the most serious contender Werder Bremen. It will be the most exciting match in the history of the Schachbundesliga and Viswanathan Anand will join the party.
