The Oslo Esports Cup was the first Meltwater Champions Chess Tour event to take place not online but at a venue Fri 22nd Apr to Thu 28th Apr 2022. Players: Carlsen, Giri, Mamedyarov, Duda, Van Foreest, Le Quang Liem, Praggnanandhaa and Eric Hansen played in this round robin of 4 game mini-matches. This is the first tour classic of the season. In the final round leaders Magnus Carlsen and R Praggnanandhaa lost their mini-matches allowing Jan-Krzysztof Duda to come through to win the event and Le Quang Liem to finish in second place.
