The National Open took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, 10th-13th June 2010. Varuzhan Akobian lead on 5/5 going into the final and had a chance of a $1600 bonus for a perfect score but he lost first place by losing to Timur Gareev in a sacraficial game. Gareev took clear first place with 5.5/6.
