Korchnoi wins the Botvinnik Memorial in Suzdal

Viktor Korchnoi won one of a number of events commemorating the centenary of the birth of Mikhail Botvinnik who was born August 17th 1911. This rapid event which took place alongside the Vladimir Open in Suzdal saw players who had competed against Botvinnik play and Yuri Averbakh, the oldest GM in the world act as arbiter. Korchnoi finished a point clear of Evgeni Vasiukov. Anand, Carlsen, Aronian and Kramnik play September 1st-3rd in the most prestigious of these celebrations.
