The Hungarian Championships took place in Szeged, 9th-17th August 2009. Zoltan Almasi and Ferenc Berkes tied on 6/9 with Almasi taking the title with a superior Berger-Sonneborn score. Zoltan Medvegy took 4th on tie-break because he had the most wins amongst those tied on 5 points.
