The second game of the FIDE Women's World Chess Championship in Taizhou, China was drawn in just 33 moves and just two and a half hours play. Just as in game one Ushenina had the better opening preparation at least equalising and forcing her opponent to trade quickly to a draw. Ushenina played the Sveshnikov variation and her choice of 17...b4 (played rarely but the games Kamsky-Lautier, Anand-Kramnik and Almasi-Shirov suggests pedigree) seemed to catch out Hou. 18.h4 was new but it seems not especially good as Hou almost immediately went for simplification and a draw. Next game Sat 14th Sept 2013 when Ushenina will have white.
