The 1st FIDE Grand Prix takes place in Simpson’s-in-the-Strand in London 20th September (Opening Ceremony) to 3rd October 2012. Play starts at 2pm each day. The field has undergone a number of changes. Nakamura, Ivanchuk, Grischuk, Topalov, Wang Hao, Gelfand, Leko, Giri, Mamedyarov, Dominguez Perez, Adams and Kasimdzhanov.
Topalov, Gelfand and Mamedyarov tie for first in the London FIDE Grand Prix (11)
Shakhriyar Mamedyarov took a quick draw against Peter Leko to secure at least a share of first place in the London FIDE Grand Prix. Veselin Topalov caught him when he outplayed an out of form Anish Giri in a complex ending. Boris Gelfand too got into a share of first with the only other decisive game of the day beating Rustam Kasimdzhanov.
