The European Online Chess Club Cup took place on the Tornelo platform Sat 27th Mar to Wed 31st Mar 2021. This rapid event replaced the regular club cup which could not take place over the board. As usual the field was a mix of amateurs and very strong professionals. Leading players include: Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Richard Rapport, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Pentala Harikrishna, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, SantoshGujrathi Vidit, Michael Adams, Nikita Vitiugov, Vladislav Artemiev, Evgeny Tomashevsky, Andrey Esipenko, Jorden Van Foreest, Yuriy Kryvoruchko, David Navara, Bassem Amin etc. The event had a preliminary stage (groups A-I) and a Playoff Phase (Groups A-C). The final phase is a 10 team all-play-all taking place 30th-31st March. Top seeds Baden Baden didn't make it to the final finishing bottom of an extremely tough playoff group.

The winners were SF Deizisau e.V. with top board Matthias Bluebaum (2.5 points from 8 games), Alexander Donchenko (4.5/8), Georg Meier (5/8), Andreas Heimann (1/4), Vincent Keymer (5.5/7) and Dmitrij Kollars (2/3) - won 6 matches, drew 2 and lost 1. Clichy Echecs 92 (Jorden Van Foreest 6.5/9, Parham Maghsoodloo 5/9, Bassem Amin 5/9 and Loek Van Wely 6/9) also won 6 matches but drew 1 and lost 2. The remaining places were closely contested with all but one teams scoring 3 or 4 wins. Only the invited women's champions Cercle d'Echecs de Monte-Carlo struggled and were left pointless. All games available.
