Adams takes lead in Dortmund after three rounds

Michael Adams scored his second victory of the event to move to 2.5/3 and the clear lead in the Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting half a point clear of Vladimir Kramnik and Georg Meier.
Adams defeated Fabiano Caruana with black in a complex Berlin Defence. It remains to be seen how much of Adams play was preparation but Adams suddenly emerged with better development and won Caruana's entire kingside and it was a matter of time to convert the advantage.
Meier-Leko, Fridman-Naiditsch, Andreikin-Wang Hao and Kramnik-Fridman were all drawn mostly without any drama.
Round 3 Standings: Adams 2.5pts, Kramnik, Meier 2pts, Khenkin, Leko, Caruana, Wang Hao 1.5pts, Fridman, Naiditsch 1 pts, Andreikin 0.5pts.
