The Chess.com SIG Bullet Chess Championship final stages took place Tuesday 6th to Wednesday 7th Apr 2021. The final 8 played a KO over two days to decide the champion. The quarterfinal pairings were: Naroditsky-Hansen (Hansen had an issue with take down notices on his YouTube Channel and didn't play because he felt he had to address those as a matter of urgency - according to one report I read these were connected to Nakamura's channel - there are easily found later videos connected to all this on YouTube), Tang 8.5-7.5 Nihal, Firouzja 9-8 Artemiev and Nakamura 13-3 Erigaisi. In the semifinals Firouzja beat defending champion Nakamura in a close match 10-8 while Tang beat Naroditsky 9.5-7.5. Firouzja beat Tang 11-5 in the final - he won the first 5 games. Firouzja had a very tough draw, he was somewhat fortunate to beat Artemiev who resigned when in the lead instead of running the clock down and thus allowed Firouzja the chance to equalise. Firouzja was also 6-3 down vs Nakamura at the half way stage before managing to play in a more free style and coming back with a 7-2 win in the second half.
The wildcard matches held on 5th April saw Erigaisi defeat Aronian, Artemiev defeat Sadhwani, Hansen defeat Le Tuan Minh and Nihal beat Bortnyk.
