Veselin Topalov beat Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu in Round 5 of the Kings tournament in Bucharest to join leader Vassily Ivanchuk on 3/5 with a round to go. Ivanchuk held Fabiano Caruana, who sacrificed the exchange for an initiative), but the game stayed more or less balanced. Topalov beat Nisipeanu when the latter blundered on the run up to first time control. Final round at 13:30 GMT sees the leaders meet. Nisipeanu-Caruana and Ivanchuk-Topalov.
