Alexander Morozevich kick started his tournament with a win against David Navara on the rest day. Morozevich arrived a day late and so had to play this round 1 game on the 1st January.
On the rest day on January 1st Alexander Morozevich won his first game beating David Navara in their postponed Round 1 game. Navara went astray not far out of known theory.
