The 4NCL started in Sunningdale 3rd-4th November 2012 and finished on Hinckley Island for Rounds 9-11 4th to 6th May 2013. Guildford 1 took the title. Alexei Shirov and Vassily Ivanchuk were amongst those who turned up for the final rounds. Nigel Short managed to save a position a pawn down vs David Howell and this meant the match was drawn 4-4 so Guildford took the title at the expense of Wood Green. Also Matthew Sadler drew with black against Vassily Ivanchuk.
