1st Official Online French Blitz Championship 2020

The 1st Official Online French Blitz Championship took place over the weekend of 16th-17th May 2020. Open to all comers, not just French players there were a number of foreign stars including Vasyl Ivanchuk who won the qualifying swiss section with 13/15 a point clear of Christian Bauer. 16 players went through to the knockout phase to decide the prizes. Alireza Firouzja was well beaten by Kacper Piorun in the first round of that phase, Ivanchuk was beaten by the eventual winner Rauf Mamedov in the semi-finals but Mamedov had to come from behind having lost the first game. In the final Mamedov beat Christian Bauer 3-1. A full file of games from both the preliminary and final sections is available.
