The Global Chess League took place in Dubai Wed 21st Jun 2023Sun 2nd Jul 2023. This rapid play competition has 6 very strong teams. Players: Magnus Carlsen, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Richard Rapport, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Levon Aronian, Yangyi Yu, Viswanathan Anand, Daniil Dubov, Alexander Grischuk, Yi Wei, Arjun Erigaisi, Leinier Dominguez Perez, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Teimour Radjabov, Andrey Esipenko, Sarin Nihal, Santosh Gujrathi Vidit, D Gukesh, Javokhir Sindarov, R Praggnanandhaa, Raunak Sadhwani, Yifan Hou, Jonas Buhl Bjerre, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Zhongyi Tan, Kateryna Lagno, Humpy Koneru, Nana Dzagnidze, Dronavalli Harika, Bella Khotenashvili, Irina Krush, Elisabeth Paehtz, Nino Batsiashvili and Polina Shuvalova. The event came down to a round of individual tie-breaks drawn by playing card. Triveni Continental Kings won the event after Jonas Buhl Bjerre beat Javokhir Sindarov in the fourth tie-break game, the first three being drawn.
The event will probably forever remembered for the endgame finish to Anand-Carlsen from round 7. Unfortunately a couple of extraneous moves crept into my copy of the game and maybe all others I don't know. The game finishes with 70...c2. Sadly once wrong versions are out there they tend to be the ones that survive, I don't know why, it's a rule. Anyhow I corrected it in all the places I could.
