My thanks to Alexsander Martynkov, Pablo Sierra, Peter Svidler, George Mirijanian, V.Saravanan, Laszlo Nagy, Zenón Franco Ocampos, David Clayton, Valery Maes, Bent Kølvig, Nerea Mauleon, Viktor Bologan, Gérard Demuydt, Frits Agterdenbos, Doug Bake, Tom Skovgaard, Peter Karrer, Varlam Vepkhvishvili and everyone else who helped with the issue.
After starting with 0/2 Topalov got himself back into contention going into the final round of the Essent tournament. But there he lost to Judit Polgar who along with Shakhriyar Mamedyarov scored 4.5/6 and the results of their careers. Another player with a 2900+ result this week was Lenier Dominguez whose 8/9 was a point and a half clear of second place Vassily Ivanchuk (who played to his rating). The Bundesliga started this weekend, the finals of the Spanish Team Championships take place this week and the Tal Memorial just after that. Its been known this category XX event has been organised for a while but the organisers haven't really publicised it. It should be great and hopefully there will be a website to do it justice.
Hope you enjoy this issue.

The Mihail Tal Memorial will take place November 5th-19th 2006 (Starts on the 6th (opening on the 5th), 3-rest-3-rest-3)
The main event is a Category XX round robin with: Levon Aronian, Peter Svidler, Peter Leko, Alexei Shirov, Boris Gelfand, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Magnus Carlsen, Alexander Morozevich, Alexander Grischuk and Ruslan Ponomariov.
Then there will be two days of blitz qualifiers followed by a 16-player blitz event - 10 from the main event (maybe not 10 in fact, as it clashes with the Bundesliga) plus some qualifiers. Prize fund - $100K for the round robin and $100K for the blitz.
The http://russiachess.ru has published details about the event but there still hasn't been an official announcement as far as I know or anything about an official site.
The Spanish Team Championship 2006 División of Honor takes place in Olite, 6th-10th September 2006 (Group 1). San Sebastián, 13th-17th September 2006 (Group 2) and Lugo 3th-4th November 2006 (Final).
Group 1 saw the two favourites Intel Tiendas UPI (Ivanchuk, Radjabov, Vallejo Pons, Bruzon, Volokitin, Eljanov, Illescas Cordoba etc) and Reverté Albox (Dreev, Krasenkow, Rustemov, Movsesian, Sutovsky etc) qualify for the final weekend.
Group 2 saw Linex Magic (Aronian, Morozevich, Ponomariov, Shirov, Karjakin, Sargissian, Rublevsky etc) and Ajoblanco Cuna de Dragones (Svidler, Adams, Mamedyarov, Jakovenko, Harikrishna, Timofeev etc) progress to the final weekend.
Incidently the Spanish Chess Federation has both a very clear website
(below) and sent out a nice press release with each round.

The Belgian League 2006-7 has started. The first two rounds took place on the 1st and 22nd October 2006. Valery Maes reports that the fight for the title will be very interesting this year while the reigning Champion of the last years Eynatten has changed its policy with no top GMs this time. Youth will be given a chance to play and both their teams are planned to be of equal strength. Maybe later third place will become an option for one of them. (European Championship qualification).

Games from the final two rounds are not yet available (apart from the Monaco - NAO match) if anyone has them I'd be grateful.

If you've won a game that's appeared in Chessbase Megabase 2005 then find out a series of results which by separation means you beat Garry Kasparov! Fun stuff from Karlheinz Zoechling. I'm not in Megabase but have beaten someone who has a separation of two, giving me a separation of three!
