My thanks to Olexandr Prohorov, Holger Lieske, Gregory Joseph, Nicolas Brunner, Ehud Lahav, Fabrice Wantiez, Steven Stahl and everyone else who helped with this issue.

Magnus Carlsen won yet another tournament with a 10 game winning streak in the Superbet Poland Rapid & Blitz. Even that was only just enough to beat Wei Yi into second place. The 24 year old Chinese player's promise may finally be arriving. Carlsen also is favourite to win the second Champions Chess Tour event being held partially simultaneously with the Warsaw tournament. He has two chances to beat Alireza Firouzja for the title. Carlsen plays his first tournament at Classical time control at the end of the month, the Norway Chess tournament, that will be interesting.

2) Superbet Poland Rapid & Blitz 2024

The Superbet Poland Rapid & Blitz took place 8th to 13th May 2024. It is part of the Grand Chess Tour. Players: Magnus Carlsen, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Wei Yi, Arjun Erigaisi, Vincent Keymer, Kirill Shevchenko, Dommaraju Gukesh, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu and Anish Giri. Wei Yi won the rapid portion of the event and would normally have won the whole thing but Magnus Carlsen, who finished second in the rapid won 10 games in a row in the blitz, 3 games at the end of day one and 7 games in a row at the start of day 2 and just edged to victory.

3) Chess.com Classic 2024

The Chess.com Classic took place on some of the same days as the Warsaw Superbet, just later in the day and Carlsen has again dominated, he faces Alireza Firouzja in the Grand Final and even if he loses, he has a second chance as the format is double elimination. There are also Divisions 2 and 3 which act as qualifiers and I'll round those up next week.

The Chess.com Classic Play-In was a 9 Round Swiss won by Fabiano Caruana followed by a knockout the following day. Caruana got to reach the final by virtue of winning the swiss but was beaten by Velimir Ivic for a place in Division 1. 7) Catalan Championship 2024

The Catalan Championship takes place 11th to 18th May, seems I managed to miss it entirely last year (although maybe Pere Garriga Cazorla won it in November last year in the Mediterranean championship but wonder why he isn't defending his title here). Daniel Alsina Leal is the top seed in this 16 player knockout.

The 57th Capablanca Memorial took place 3rd to 12th May 2024. Ruslan Ponomariov won with 6.5/10. Gabriel Flom won the Open on tie-break from Ermes Espinosa Veloz and Jorge Roberto Elias Reyes after all scored 8/10. I don't have any games from the open, it's possible they will turn up.

Asnieres, Chartres, Chalons and Monaco qualify for the semi-finals and final 29th to 30th June. I could not find out where this was taking place.
