Hence the slight delay. The issue mostly covers the regular tournaments that take place over the Christmas period. The games from the Groningen GM Open Group were posted as one round per posting but as part of TWIC14. Mark Crowther 2) Harry Golombek - March 1st 1911 - Jan 7th 1995 -------------------------------------------------- After a number of years of illness Harry Golombek died at the weekend. Although he played in the late 1920's and throughout the 1930's he had to wait until the end of the war for his best results including becoming the first English qualifier for an Interzonal in 1952. He worked as a code breaker in World War II at Bletchley Park and towards the end of his life wrote about this in a book, however the work was still regarded to be too secret to be published. It is probably as an arbiter in 6 World Title matches and as an author of quality works on Reti and Capablanca that he will be best remembered. 3) Hastings 1994-5 ------------------- Challengers Round 5. 1st Jan 1995 ---------------------------------- Arkell 1/2 Conquest Parker 1/2 Kosten Webster 1/2 Har-Zwi Cifuentes 1/2 Wallace Cherniaev 1-0 Malaniuk Crouch 0-1 Boris Lalic Davies 1/2 Forchart Hastings Premier Round 6. 2nd Jan 1995 --------------------------------------- Madl 0-1 Luther Nunn 1-0 Lalic Kachiano-Gersinsha 1/2 Howell McNab 1/2 Sher Maric 0-1 Arakhamia Challengers Round 6. 2nd Jan 1995 ---------------------------------- Conquest 0-1 Gufeld Lalic 1/2 McDonald Kosten 1/2 Cherniaev Wallace 0-1 Sherbakov Tozer 0-1 Arkell Har-Zwi 1/2 Parker Bronstein 1/2 Webster A Ledger 1/2 Hebden Hastings Premier Round 7. 3rd Jan 1995 --------------------------------------- Sher 1/2 Nunn Howell 1/2 McNab Luther 1/2 Kachiano-Gersinsha Arkahamia 1/2 Madl Lalic 1/2 Maric Challengers Round 7. 3rd Jan 1995 ---------------------------------- Sherbakov 1/2 Gufeld Arkell 1/2 Tseitlin Cherniaev 0-1 Lalic Webster 0-1 Yakovich McDonald 0-1 Kosten Parker 1/2 Conquest Luce 1/2 Har-Zwi Van der Mortel 0-1 Bronstein Tozer 0-1 Malaniuk Hebden 1-0 Dobos Hastings Premier Round 8. 4th Jan 1995 --------------------------------------- Nunn 1/2 Maric Madl 1/2 Lalic Kachiano-Gersinsha 1-0 Arakhamia McNab 1/2 Luther Sher 1/2 Howell Challengers Round 8. 4th Jan 1995 ---------------------------------- B Lalic 0-1 Sherbakov Gufeld 1/2 Kosten Yakovich 1-0 Arkell Bronstein 1-0 Roos Malaniuk Parker Forchert Hebden Conquest 1-0 Luce Har-Zwi 0-1 Basman Hastings Premier Round 9. 5th Jan 1995 --------------------------------------- Luther 1/2 Sher Howell 1/2 Nunn S Lalic 1/2 Kachiano-Gersinsha Arakhamia 0-1 McNab Maric 1/2 Madl FINAL STANDINGS --------------- L N S M M M H A K L TOTAL 1.
