Garry Kasparov attended the World Chess Championship on May 18th 2012 during game 6. After the well reported press appearances he gave a simultaneous exhibition against some Russian and European Juniors. He drew two games. Three of the games and some photos below.

The guest of honour at the 18 May event was 13th World Champion Garry Kasparov. At a press conference, Garry Kimovich went into detail on journalists' many questions, and then joined the match commentators: Peter Svidler (in English) and Alexander Grishchuk (in Russian).

After commenting, Kasparov went down to the Chess Corner organised in the courtyard of the State Tretyakov Gallery's Engineering Building, and held a simultaneous display with young chess players. The session on 14 boards lasted more than three hours and was quite intense - Kasparov confronted Russian and European champions in their age categories. After the game, the 13th World Champion analysed memorable fragments of the games with the children. Two of Kasparov's rivals managed to tie with him: Yekaterina Goltseva (Champion of Russia up to Age 10) of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and Kirill Kozionov (holder of the 2011 Cup of Russia up to Age 14) from Izhevsk. The 13th World Champion noted the young chess players' high level of play.
