Rostov FIDE Women's Grand Prix Round 4. Hou Yifan's lead stands at a point and a half after just four rounds of play as she defeated Anna Muzychuk in a Ruy Lopez Marshall. Kateryna Lahno was the only other winner and she went second with a win against Nadezhda Kosintseva in the final game to finish. Humpy Koneru was held to a draw by Alisa Galliamova. Rest day Saturday.

Hou Yifan moved further clear of the field with yet another win, this time in a theoretical battle in the Ruy Lopez Marshall Attack against Anna Muzychuk. Hou gradually consolidated her king position then made her material advantage count.

Whilst Humpy Koneru is the Elo favourite I think World Champion Hou Yifan started the event favourite as she rapidly improves. Koneru started slowly in Doha before she won a number of must win games and here she is losing touch with Hou Yifan as she again could only draw with Alisa Galliamova and in only 26 moves too.
