Ding Liren returned to 50% after defeating Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in just 28 moves. The remaining games were drawn.

Ding Liren played a Symmetrical English and launched an early h-pawn attack and this quickly caused Vachier-Lagrave to miscalculate. 18...Bg4 was a mis-step (black needed to double or open the c-file and exchange some pieces) with the idea of 19...Nxh6 but unfortunately for black this was just losing and the game ended in only a few more moves.

Alexander Moiseenko also moved his h-pawn forward in the opening and Etienne Bacrot couldn't see any reason why he shouldn't just grab it. Both sides had their attacking ideas and white tried to avoid perpetual check before having to accede only a few moves later.

Ian Nepomniachtchi had to be very careful on the black side of a Moscow Variation of the Sicilian against Richard Rapport but once he castled on move 19 the game was just dead level and a draw was agreed on move 34.

Round 4 Standings: Bacrot, Moiseenko 6pts, Ding, Vachier 5pts, Nepomniachtchi, Rapport 3pts (I just noticed it's 3 pts for a win 1 for a draw).

Round 5 Pairings Fri 26th : Bacrot-Rapport, Nepomniachtchi-Ding Liren, Vachier-Lagrave-Moiseenko.
